48 Charlbert Street  St Johns Wood

Set up and owned by producer Mickie Most in 1976,the building housing the studio dates back to1890 and was originally a church institute. Before being taken over by RAK it was owned by ATV and used for television rehearsals .

In 1980 studio 1 and 2 both housed 32 channel API consoles and Lyrec TR532 24 track. RAK also ran a successful mobile again with API 56 input and 2 x 3M M79 24 track machines that was used among other things, by the BBC to record 'The Old Grey Whistle test. The Mobile actually pre-dated the studio, originally being called "team recording', and was used so extensively by Mickie Most that it was suggested that he would be better off buying it, which he did.

The first clients to use the studios were Gallagher and Lyle. Over the years, as fashions in equipment came and went, RAK stuck with the API desks and has remained constantly in demand.

Recent clients include, Beady Eye, Michael Kiwanaku, Westlife, Dido, Shakira, Cee-Lo, The Feeling and Mumford & Sons.
